If you're thinking about listing your home for sale, here are my ideas for how to prepare your home to sell quickly and for the most money possible:
1. Clear the clutter. Take this time to get rid of items in your home that no longer serve a purpose to you. You can do this by going through all the old boxes from your garage and calling your favorite donation centers to come and pick up those items. You should also clean out your junk drawers and closets that just seem to collect all the spare ‘stuff’ you don’t want to take to your new home. If you do all this, you’ll feel clean and fresh by the time it comes to list your home.
2. Depersonalize. I know that your family photos are so important to you, but when you’re listing your home, the buyers need to be able to imagine themselves living there. Take down your family photos and heirlooms and store them away out of sight.
"A clean, decluttered home looks bigger and shows off much more storage space to potential buyers."
4. Bring your listing agent to tour. Take them room by room through the house and ask their perspective about what you can do to improve the home before it’s listed. They can tell you where your money is best spent to get a return when your home ultimately sells.
